The Seiko Astron HAB005J1 is a limited edition of 1,200 pieces worldwide, built on the newest GPS Solar platform and given a dial that has no equivalent in the standing range. Seiko calls the colour Crystal Green, taken from green quartz, and the dial carries a newly developed pressed pattern of multiple facets meant to catch light the way a cut quartz crystal does. Against the black sub-dials, the green reads far brighter than the blue-grey and black references it sits alongside.
Underneath is Calibre 5X63, the first Astron movement to run its chronograph out to 24 hours in 1/20-second increments with split-time capability, and the first to put the second time zone on a 24-hour sub-dial. The titanium case measures 43.4mm across, 50.0mm lug-to-lug and 12.4mm thick, with a two-piece octagonal bezel and a super-hard coating. It ships with the titanium bracelet and an additional black silicone strap in a special presentation box — and the quick-change system means swapping between them takes a button press.

Why You'll Love It
- Only 1,200 exist. This is a closed production run with a dial made for this edition alone — not a colour swap on a standing model.
- The Crystal Green dial is the reason to want this one. A newly developed pressed pattern of multiple facets, drawn from the way light breaks across a quartz crystal, in a green taken from green quartz itself.
- Two watches in one box. The titanium bracelet and an additional black silicone strap are both included, and the quick-change system swaps them at the press of a button — formal on metal, sport on silicone, no tools.
- A 24-hour chronograph. Most stopwatches cap out at 12 hours, which means anything longer has to be tracked in your head. This one measures a full day in one go, with split times along the way.
- It sets itself. The watch connects to the GPS network to adjust its time and time zone, with a high-speed time zone adjustment and automatic daylight saving correction on top.
- Light alone runs it — approximately six months from a full charge, with a power save mode of around two years. No battery to replace.
- At 12.4mm, this is the slimmest case the Astron chronograph has worn, with a two-piece octagonal bezel designed to sit the weight low for better balance.
- Perpetual calendar to 2100 and a world time function covering 38 time zones — the date and day never need correcting, and the whole map is on the watch.

Key Features
- Limited edition of 1,200 pieces worldwide — a closed production run, supplied in a special presentation box with an additional silicone strap.
- Crystal Green faceted dial — a newly developed pressed pattern of multiple facets inspired by the sparkling faces of a quartz crystal, in a green drawn from green quartz.
- Calibre 5X63 GPS Solar movement — the newest GPS Solar calibre in the Astron collection, combining dual-time capability with a 24-hour chronograph. Stated accuracy is ±15 seconds per month without a GPS signal, at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C.
- Chronograph up to 24 hours in 1/20-second increments — the 1/20-second counter sits at 9 o'clock, and the 24-hour counter (hours and minutes) runs at 6 o'clock during chronograph operation. Split-time capability lets you record an intermediate reading without stopping the count.
- Dual time on a 24-hour display — the second time zone is read in hours and minutes on a 24-hour sub-dial, so there is no separate AM/PM indicator to interpret. The main hands can also be set manually to a different zone.
- GPS time and time zone adjustment — with high-speed time zone adjustment, automatic daylight saving adjustment, a time transfer function to swap main dial and sub-dial readings, and a signal reception result indication.
- World time function covering 38 time zones, plus a perpetual calendar correct to the year 2100 and a power reserve indicator on the dial.
- Quick-change strap system — a button release on the case lets you swap between the supplied titanium bracelet and black silicone strap without tools.
- Titanium case and bracelet with super-hard coating — lighter than stainless steel, with a surface treatment that raises hardness against everyday scuffing.
- Two-piece octagonal titanium bezel — brushed on the top surface, polished down the faceted sides, and shaped to lower the centre of gravity for better balance on the wrist.
- Sapphire crystal with super-clear coating — the coating cuts reflections, and sapphire rates 9 on the Mohs hardness scale.
- LumiBrite on hands and markers, date and day-of-the-week displays, magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m and 100-metre water resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How limited is this edition?
1,200 pieces worldwide, across every market Seiko sells in. That is a closed production run — Seiko does not make more once the allocation is exhausted, and Singapore receives only a share of the total.
What is Crystal Green?
It is Seiko's name for this edition's dial. The colour is drawn from green quartz, and the dial itself carries a newly developed pressed pattern of multiple facets meant to catch light the way the faces of a cut quartz crystal do. It connects back to the original 1969 Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch — the reason quartz means something on an Astron dial in the first place.
What comes in the box?
The watch on its titanium bracelet, plus an additional black silicone strap, in a special presentation box made for this edition. The quick-change system means you can swap between the two without tools — press the button, the bracelet releases, press the strap into place until it locks.
Why does a 24-hour chronograph matter?
Because most stopwatches stop counting at 12 hours, which means a long-haul flight, an overnight drive or a full working day has to be tracked mentally once the counter wraps around. This one runs a complete 24-hour cycle on a single measurement, in 1/20-second increments, with split-time capability for intermediate readings.
What does GPS Solar actually do?
The watch receives signals from GPS satellites to identify where it is, then adjusts its time and time zone to match — with a high-speed time zone adjustment and automatic daylight saving correction. Manual time adjustment is available if you prefer to set it yourself. All the energy for this comes from light striking the dial.
Do I ever need to change the battery?
No. The HAB005J1 charges from any light source into a rechargeable cell. A full charge runs the watch for approximately six months, and the power save function extends that to around two years when it is left in the dark. Everyday wear keeps it topped up indefinitely.
How does the dual-time function work?
The second time zone is displayed on a 24-hour sub-dial in hours and minutes, so a glance tells you both the time and whether it is day or night in the other zone. The time transfer function swaps the main dial and sub-dial readings, letting you promote your second zone to the main hands on arrival.
How does 43.4mm wear?
Better than the number suggests. The case is 12.4mm thick with a 50.0mm lug-to-lug span, and the two-piece octagonal bezel is designed to keep the centre of gravity low. Titanium construction takes weight out of the equation, and the silicone strap makes it lighter still. Try it on at any City Chain outlet if you are between sizes.
Can I swim with this watch?
Yes. At 100-metre water resistance it is rated for swimming and recreational water activity, and the included silicone strap suits water use better than the bracelet. It is not a diver's watch and is not rated for scuba diving. Do not operate the crown or the chronograph pushers while the watch is submerged.
How durable is titanium with a super-hard coating?
Bare titanium marks more readily than steel, which is why Seiko applies a super-hard surface treatment across the case, bezel and bracelet. It resists the everyday scuffs picked up from desks, door frames and bag straps. It remains a surface treatment, so a hard impact against a sharp edge can still leave a mark. Avoid abrasives and solvents.
How does this compare to the standard models in the range?
Mechanically it is identical — same 43.4mm titanium case, same Calibre 5X63, same quick-change system as the HAB001J1, HAB002J1 and HAB003J1. What is exclusive to this reference is the Crystal Green faceted dial, the 1,200-piece production run, and the additional silicone strap and special box. Browse the full Seiko Astron collection.
Is the bracelet adjustable?
Yes. Links can be added or removed to size the titanium bracelet, and the three-fold clasp has an easy-adjust mechanism for fine-tuning fit without tools. City Chain offers complimentary bracelet sizing at any outlet — bring your warranty book along for the service.
What warranty does this watch come with?
The HAB005J1 comes with a 3-year warranty when purchased from City Chain Singapore, an authorised Seiko retailer. Keep your warranty card and proof of purchase — both are required when submitting the watch for service.
