Progress in Super Titanium™

The name Zenshin means progress in Japanese, reflecting Citizen's continuing development of titanium watchmaking.

Rather than treating titanium simply as an alternative case material, Zenshin makes Super Titanium™ one of the defining elements of the collection through lightweight construction, polished and brushed surfaces and contemporary integrated bracelet styling.

What Is Citizen Super Titanium™?

Super Titanium™ is Citizen's proprietary material created by treating titanium with DURATECT surface-hardening technology.

It combines the lightness and corrosion resistance of titanium with increased surface hardness and scratch resistance, creating a material suited to comfortable everyday watch wear.

Lightweight Compared with Stainless Steel

Citizen states that Super Titanium™ is approximately 40% lighter than stainless steel while offering surface hardness approximately five times greater.

This gives Zenshin a noticeably different wearing experience from a similarly sized all-steel sports watch.

Citizen Zenshin Automatic Watches

Automatic mechanical watches make up an important part of the current Zenshin collection.

Current automatic models use self-winding mechanical movements powered by a mainspring and the motion of the wearer's wrist rather than a conventional disposable battery.

Zenshin Automatic with 40-Hour Running Time

Selected Zenshin automatic models combine a 40.5mm Super Titanium™ case with Citizen Calibre 8213 and approximately 40 hours of running time.

A small-seconds display, date window and see-through caseback add mechanical detail, while luminous hands and markers support everyday legibility.

Zenshin Automatic with 60-Hour Running Time

The newer Zenshin automatic series retains the 40.5mm Super Titanium™ format while introducing Citizen Calibre 8322 with approximately 60 hours of running time.

The longer reserve means the watch can remain off the wrist for more time before the mechanical movement needs to be wound again.

40 Hours or 60 Hours?

Choose a Calibre 8213 Zenshin if approximately 40 hours of running time meets your needs and you prefer its particular dial and small-seconds design.

Choose a Calibre 8322 model if you want the longer approximately 60-hour reserve offered by the newer mechanical calibre.

Citizen Zenshin Eco-Drive Chronograph

Zenshin is not exclusively mechanical. Selected models combine Super Titanium™ with Citizen's light-powered Eco-Drive technology and chronograph functionality.

Current Eco-Drive Zenshin models use 42.5mm cases with a chronograph, date display and 24-hour indicator for a more technical dial layout.

Powered by Light with Eco-Drive

Eco-Drive converts natural and artificial light into energy and stores it in a rechargeable cell, making regular conventional battery replacement unnecessary.

The movement used in the current Zenshin chronographs can run for approximately nine months from a full charge under normal-use conditions.

Automatic or Eco-Drive Zenshin?

Choose Zenshin Automatic if you enjoy traditional mechanical watchmaking and the interaction of a self-winding movement.

Choose Zenshin Eco-Drive if you prefer light-powered convenience and chronograph functionality.

Sapphire Crystal Across the Current Range

The current Zenshin families use sapphire crystal to protect the dial.

Sapphire provides strong resistance to everyday surface scratches and complements the durability of the Super Titanium™ case and bracelet.

100M Water Resistance

Current Zenshin families at City Chain are rated at 100 metres of water resistance.

This gives the collection useful everyday protection, although customers should always follow the water-use guidance provided for the individual watch.

Colour & Texture

Colour is an important part of Zenshin's contemporary character. Current City Chain models span blue, green, grey, orange, white and other dial treatments.

The combination of colourful dials and lightweight titanium gives Zenshin a more expressive character than a conventional monochromatic titanium watch.
