SEIKO ASTRON HAB002J1 GPS SOLAR DUAL-TIME CHRONOGRAPH MEN WATCH

The Seiko Astron HAB002J1 is the black-dialled reference in the new GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph range — the most monochrome of the three, and the one that lets the case do the talking. It introduces Calibre 5X63, the newest GPS Solar movement in the Astron collection and the first to run its chronograph out to 24 hours rather than 12: a full day of elapsed time on one measurement, in 1/20-second increments, with split-time capability. The second time zone also moves to a 24-hour sub-dial, which removes any ambiguity about whether it is morning or evening where you are not.

The case is new too. At 43.4mm across and 12.4mm thick, it is noticeably slimmer than the outgoing generation, built in titanium with a super-hard coating and fitted with a two-piece octagonal titanium bezel — brushed across the top, polished down the faceted sides. The black textured dial carries a geometric pattern behind three horizontally arranged sub-dials, with silver-tone applied indexes and hands supplying the only contrast. The case takes a quick-change strap system: press a button, the bracelet comes off, press a silicone strap into place and it is secure.
