GPS Solar 2026 Limited Edition — 1,500 Pieces

The Seiko Astron HAB009J1 is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces, and Seiko describes it as drawn from the radiance of crystals hidden within jet-black rock. The case is titanium with a black super-hard coating, carrying a multifaceted bezel, and the green dial is picked up by gold-toned accents and by mirror-polished centre links running through the bracelet.

Running it is Calibre 5X63, a GPS Solar movement that takes its time from the satellite network and its power from light — approximately six months from a full charge. The chronograph measures up to 24 hours in 1/20-second increments, there is a dual-time function, world time for 38 cities and a perpetual calendar good to 2100. Each case back is engraved with the LIMITED EDITION marking and its own serial number.

Why You'll Love It

  • One of 1,500 pieces, each engraved on the case back with the LIMITED EDITION marking and its own serial number.
  • A black super-hard coated titanium case against a green dial with gold-toned accents — Seiko describes the edition as drawn from the radiance of crystals hidden within jet-black rock.
  • The chronograph runs to 24 hours in 1/20-second increments, so a full day can be timed on one measurement rather than restarting at twelve.
  • It sets itself from the GPS network and runs on light alone — approximately six months from a full charge, and around two years in power save.
  • Supplied on its titanium bracelet with an additional calf strap included, and the quick-change system swaps them without tools.

Key Features

  • GPS Solar 2026 Limited Edition — limited to 1,500 pieces, with LIMITED EDITION and an individual serial number engraved on the screw case back.
  • Calibre 5X63 GPS Solar movement — 14 jewels, running approximately six months from a full charge with a power save mode of around two years. Seiko states precision as ±15 seconds per month without receiving a GPS signal, at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C.
  • Chronograph up to 24 hours in 1/20-second increments — alongside a dual-time function, a day display and a power reserve indicator on the dial.
  • GPS signal reception — with time zone adjustment, automatic and manual time adjustment, a satellite acquisition status display, a reception result display, daylight saving time, an in-flight mode that prevents reception, and automatic hand position alignment.
  • World time for 38 cities and a perpetual calendar — correct to 28 February 2100, with overcharge prevention and a power save function.
  • Sapphire crystal with super-clear coating — and LumiBrite on the hands and indexes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How limited is this edition?

It is a GPS Solar 2026 Limited Edition of 1,500 pieces. Each watch carries the LIMITED EDITION marking and its own serial number engraved on the case back, so the individual piece is identifiable. Singapore receives a share of the total rather than the whole run.

Do I ever need to change the battery?

No. The HAB009J1 charges from light into a rechargeable cell. A full charge runs it for approximately six months, and the power save function extends that to around two years when it is left in the dark. Worn in normal daylight, it stays charged.

How accurate is it without a GPS signal?

Seiko states ±15 seconds per month, and that figure applies without receiving a GPS signal, at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. Once it does pick up the satellite network it adjusts itself, including the time zone and daylight saving.

What does the in-flight mode do?

It prevents the watch from attempting GPS signal reception, which is what airlines ask for on board. Seiko lists it among the calibre's functions alongside the satellite acquisition status and reception result displays, so you can see whether a reception attempt succeeded.

Can I swim with it?

The rating is 10 bar. Seiko's water-resistance table describes 10 bar as suitable for diving that does not use an air cylinder, which covers swimming and snorkelling. It is not a diver's watch and is not rated for scuba. A 10 bar rating is not an instruction to take the watch to 100 metres; it is a pressure rating measured in still conditions.

What comes with the watch?

It is supplied on its titanium bracelet with an additional calf leather strap included — Seiko notes the strap is certified by the Leather Working Group. The quick-change system releases either one at the press of a button, so no tools are needed to swap them.

Is the bracelet adjustable?

Yes. Links can be added or removed to size the titanium bracelet, and the three-fold clasp has an easy-adjust mechanism for fine-tuning without tools. City Chain offers complimentary bracelet sizing at any outlet — bring your warranty book along for the service.
