The G-SHOCK GST-B1000-1ADR is the G-STEEL taken to its lightest and slimmest point. A sharply contoured stainless steel bezel sits over a carbon case, and instead of the metal bracelet the line is usually built around, this one runs a bio-based resin band. The result is 58 grams at 11.6mm thick — a metal-faced G-SHOCK that wears like a resin one.
Getting there took two engineering decisions: adhesive glass bonding in place of a conventional gasket seat, and a compact module. Neither costs anything in protection — the steel bezel takes the impact and the carbon-reinforced resin case shields the module, all within G-SHOCK's Carbon Core Guard structure with 200-metre water resistance and a screw-lock crown. The bezel carries the brick pattern inherited from the original G-SHOCK.
Power is Tough Solar, so there is no battery to change, and Bluetooth pairing with the CASIO WATCHES app keeps the time correct on its own. Why does the minute hand move in steps?
The minute hand advances every 10 seconds rather than sweeping continuously. This is normal for the module and conserves power drawn from the solar cell. Timekeeping accuracy is unaffected.
Can the resin band be shortened?
The bio-based resin band is a buckle-and-holes design covering 145mm to 215mm with no tooling required. Unlike a metal bracelet there are no links to remove, so there is no in-store sizing step — set it to the hole that fits and you are done.
