The Seiko Prospex HBB006K1 "Blue Tears" is a limited edition made exclusively for Thong Sia, Seiko's authorised distributor in Singapore. It does not appear in Seiko's global catalogue, and it is not a watch that will be restocked once the edition is through.
Underneath the name is a proper diver's watch. Seiko rates it at Diver's 200 metres — the designation it reserves for watches built and tested for diving rather than simply resistant to water — with a one-way rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and LumiBrite on the hands and hour markers. Can I swim and dive with it?
Yes to both, within the 200-metre diver's rating — swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving are all within what this watch is built for. Make sure the crown is fully screwed down before entering the water, rinse it in fresh water afterwards, and have the case seals checked at service intervals, since gaskets are what maintain the rating over time.
What is the rotating bezel for?
Timing an interval — originally a dive, but it works for anything. Line the bezel's zero marker up with the minute hand when you start, and the elapsed minutes can be read straight off the bezel. It turns one way only, so a knock can only make the reading look longer than reality, never shorter. That is the safety principle behind every diver's bezel.
What happens if I do not wear it for a few days?
It stops. The power reserve is approximately 41 hours from a full wind, so a watch set down on Friday evening will usually have stopped by Sunday. Wind it by hand, reset the time and date, and carry on. This is normal for a mechanical watch and does no harm.
Can the bracelet be adjusted?
