It is an Asia-Pacific limited edition of 3,000 pieces, with LIMITED EDITION engraved on the case back. Seiko does not produce more once the allocation is through, and Singapore receives a share of the regional total rather than the whole run.
What is a box-shaped crystal?
Rather than sitting flat across the case, the crystal is formed with raised sides so the glass stands slightly proud, like the lid of a box. Seiko uses Hardlex, its own hardened mineral glass, for this reference. The shape is what gives a Cocktail Time dial its distortion around the edges when you tilt the watch.
When should I not set the date?
Avoid setting the date between 9:00 pm and 1:00 am. Seiko's calibre 4R35 manual states that setting it during these hours may damage the movement. If you need to change the date inside that window, move the hands past 1:00 am first, set the date, then bring the time back.
How accurate is it?
Seiko states calibre 4R35 at +45 to −35 seconds per day, and that figure applies only when the watch is worn on the wrist at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. A mechanical watch left off the wrist, or kept much hotter or colder than that, will run outside it.
What happens if I do not wear it for a day or two?
It stops. The power reserve is approximately 41 hours from a full wind, so a watch set down on Friday evening will usually have stopped by Sunday. Wind it by hand, reset the time and date, and carry on — that is normal for a mechanical watch and does it no harm.
Can I wear it swimming?
The rating is 5 bar. Seiko's own water-resistance table for this calibre describes 5 bar as suitable for sports such as swimming. It is not a diver's watch, so keep it away from scuba diving, and never operate the crown while the watch is wet.
Does an automatic watch need servicing?
Yes. A mechanical movement runs on lubricated moving parts that wear over years of use, so periodic servicing keeps it running to specification. Bring the watch to any City Chain store for servicing.
