High speed time zone adjustment
To enhance the speed and quality of the GPS connection, every component in the GPS module has been re-engineered. Thanks to the use of three independent motors for the hour, minute and second hands, Caliber 3X/5X requires at the fastest just three seconds* to change from one time zone to another. *Speed comparison of different movements: Tokyo→New York (14 hour time difference): 8X Series: 34 seconds, 5X Series: 3 seconds.
The “time transfer function” allows you to switch, simply and instantly, the display of home and destination times between the main dial and the sub dial.
Just press simultaneously on the buttons at two and four o’clock and Caliber 5X converts the main dial display from, for example, home time to local time with a single push. The sub-dial changes from local to home time at the same time. The Time Transfer function is available in the 5X series
Automatic synchronization to the exact time every day
Your Astron 3X/5X watch adjusts automatically to the exact time every day.
If it detects sunlight, it will connect with one or more GPS satellites and re-set the time, to a precision of one second every 100,000 years. Even if the watch cannot detect sunlight or fail the first attempt, it remembers the time of the previous successful manual time adjustment (or time zone adjustment) and automatically attempts to receive a signal.
All this functionality, using just the power of light.
The miracle of Astron GPS Solar is that it offers all these functions and yet requires no battery change; it draws all the power it needs from light alone. When fully charged, the watch will continue to run for about six months and, if it detects that there is no light for 72 hours, it will go into ‘sleep’ mode, in which the hands stop moving and the watch will not try to connect to the GPS network, thus reducing the energy consumption and making it possible for all the time of day information to be maintained for up to two years. When you want to wake the watch up again, just expose it to light for more than five seconds or simply press a button and the hands will return instantly to the current time and the watch will operate normally again. Please note, however, that if the battery is drained beyond a certain point, the watch will not return to normal operation until it has been exposed to light for a few minutes.
A slim profile and a comfortable size
The 5X and 3X calibers are so compact that they are easy to wear and fit snugly on the wrist. The smallest 5X watch is 42.9mm in diameter and 12.2 in depth and the smallest 3X watch is just 39mm in diameter and 11.3 deep.
A new adjustment system for the buckle
A new buckle adjustment system allows you to make, at the touch of a button, the minor adjustments to the length of the bracelet that are so important when temperature or other changes make the wrist expand or contract.
