Can I wear it in water?
No. Seiko's 5 bar rating covers everyday wear — handwashing, rain, a splash — but not swimming, showering or deliberate immersion, and the figure should not be read as a depth the watch can go to. The leather strap is the stricter limit of the two: repeated wetting will stiffen and mark it, so dry it if it does get wet and keep the watch away from hot water and steam, since heat is harder on case seals than depth is.
Is there a wrong time to set the date?
Yes, and the window is specific to this calibre. Seiko's instructions for the 4R35 say not to set the date between 9:00 pm and 1:00 am, because the movement is engaged with the date change during those hours and adjusting it then can damage it or stop the date advancing the next day. Move the hands to a safe hour first, then set the date, then set the time. The date will also need correcting by hand after any 30-day month and after February.
How do I keep an automatic running?
The 4R35 winds itself from the motion of your wrist and can also be wound by hand. It holds approximately 41 hours when fully wound, so it will usually run overnight but not through a long weekend in a drawer — if it stops, it needs winding or a period of wear to build the reserve back up before it will keep time reliably. Can the strap be fitted to my wrist?

Yes. Seiko has given this reference a see-through case back that also screws in, so the 4R35 is visible — the rotor swinging as you move and the balance running. On a watch this small it is a particularly good view, since there is less case to hide the movement behind.
