Which Tsuyosa Shore should I choose?
The NJ0230-59L (navy blue, all steel) is the most versatile and understated. The NJ0231-56L (marine blue, all steel) is lighter and more coastal. The NJ0234-58X (coral red, two-tone gold) is bold with targeted gold accents. The NJ0232-53X (moss green, full gold) is the most luxurious — the only Shore with gold covering the entire case and bracelet. All four share the same case dimensions, movement, sapphire crystal, and 100m water resistance.
What's the difference between the 53X (full gold) and the 58X (two-tone)?
Both use gold plating over the same stainless steel case and bracelet. The 58X applies gold selectively — bezel surround, crown, and bracelet centre links — with steel outer links remaining silver. The 53X plates the entire case and every bracelet link in gold for a fully committed gold-tone look. The 58X pairs gold with a coral red dial; the 53X pairs it with moss green. The 53X is $675.80 vs $664.90 for the 58X.
Will the gold plating wear off?
Yellow gold-tone plating is durable for everyday wear but will show signs of wear over time — particularly on the bracelet clasp and the links closest to hard surfaces. To preserve the finish, avoid impacts against desks and countertops, remove the watch before handling abrasive materials, and keep it away from chemicals such as cleaning products, chlorine, and perfume. Rinse with fresh water after swimming.
What's the difference between the Tsuyosa Shore and the standard Tsuyosa?
Both use the same Calibre 8210 automatic movement and integrated bracelet design. The Shore adds a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel, upgrades water resistance from 50m to 100m, includes an exhibition caseback, and introduces larger sword-style hands with a lollipop seconds hand. The standard Tsuyosa is a pure lifestyle watch; the Shore is a sport-lifestyle watch with functional dive-timing capability.
What does "automatic" mean?
An automatic watch is powered by the natural movement of your wrist. A small rotor inside the case winds the mainspring as you wear it, so no battery is needed. If left unworn for about two days, it will stop and need to be set again — simply wear it or give the crown a few manual winds to restart.
What is the hacking function?
When you pull the crown out to the time-setting position, the seconds hand stops completely. This lets you synchronise the watch to a reference clock down to the exact second. Push the crown back in and the seconds hand resumes. Not all automatic movements offer this — the Calibre 8210 does.
How long does the power reserve last?
Approximately 40 hours when fully wound. This means the watch will keep running for close to two days after you take it off. Regular daily wear keeps it continuously wound.
Can I swim with this watch?
Yes. With 100-metre water resistance and a unidirectional rotating bezel, the Tsuyosa Shore is suitable for swimming, snorkelling, and recreational water sports. It is not rated for scuba diving. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is submerged. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater or pool exposure to help preserve the gold plating.
Is the bracelet adjustable?
Yes. The stainless steel bracelet can be resized by adding or removing links. City Chain offers complimentary bracelet sizing at any outlet.
Is this a good gift?
The full gold finish with a moss green dial makes the 53X the most visually striking and gift-worthy watch in the Tsuyosa Shore range. It has unmistakable wrist presence, an exhibition caseback to admire, and the substance of a sapphire crystal, hacking automatic movement, and 100m water resistance behind it. A strong choice for anniversaries, milestone birthdays, promotions, and celebrations where you want the gift to make an impression.
What warranty does this watch come with?
The NJ0232-53X comes with Citizen's official 1-year international warranty when purchased from City Chain Singapore, an authorised Citizen retailer.
