The Citizen EM1100-84H is from the Citizen L collection, and its centrepiece is the dial: black mother-of-pearl. Because mother-of-pearl is cut from natural shell, no two dials are identical — the iridescence shifts from deep charcoal through silver and faint blue-green as the light moves, which is something no printed or lacquered dial can imitate.

What happens if I don't wear it for a while?
A fully charged watch keeps running for approximately six months in complete darkness. If it does stop, leaving it in bright light for a few hours restarts it and you simply reset the time. Storing it face-up near a window rather than in a closed drawer avoids the issue entirely.
What is the insufficient charge warning?
When the charge runs low, the seconds hand starts moving in two-second jumps instead of one. That is the watch telling you it needs light. Place it somewhere bright for a few hours and normal operation resumes.
