The G-SHOCK GAC-2500-7ADR is G-SHOCK stripped back to reading the time. A two-eye layout places a small seconds sub-dial and a date wheel on a resin dial with three-dimensional indexes, inside the octagonal case shape taken from the DW-5000C — the first G-SHOCK. The three-cell date window is coloured to match the dial so it recedes rather than interrupts, and the hands are parallel-line shapes drawn to echo the raised indexes. This is the white reference in the series.

The engineering behind it is unusual. The minute hand is a Shock Release Hand, held by magnetic force rather than fixed to the shaft. On impact it gives way instead of resisting, absorbing the shock and returning to position afterwards. It is a different answer to the problem the resin case solves, and it is how a thin-handed analog carries shock-resistant construction and 200-metre water resistance at just 47 grams.

A seconds hand sleep function parks the seconds hand to conserve battery, and the LED is amber rather than the usual white. The hand shift feature moves the hands clear of the sub-dial on demand, and the case, bezel and band are all made from bio-based resin.

Why You'll Love It

  • 47 grams and 12.7mm thick is genuinely light for a 200-metre shock-resistant watch, so it disappears on the wrist through a working day and still handles a weekend.
  • The Shock Release Hand is a different approach to shock protection — the minute hand is held magnetically, so it absorbs an impact by moving with it rather than taking the force, then returns.
  • The two-eye layout keeps the face calm. A small seconds sub-dial and a three-cell date wheel give you what you need and nothing more, which is unusual for a G-SHOCK.
  • The octagonal case traces directly to the DW-5000C, so the shape has a line back to the original G-SHOCK rather than a generic sports profile.
  • Case, bezel and band are all bio-based resin, and the three-dimensional dial and indexes give the white finish depth instead of a flat printed look.
  • The seconds hand sleep function parks the seconds hand to conserve the battery, and the amber LED with afterglow reads warmer than a white light in the dark.

Key Features

  • Resin dial with three-dimensional design — the dial and indexes are built with depth rather than printed flat, with parallel-line hands drawn to echo the raised indexes.
  • Two-eye layout — a small seconds sub-dial alongside a mode-function date wheel, with a three-cell date window coloured to match the dial so it sits quietly. The seconds hand tail carries the Shock Resist mark.
  • Shock Release Hand — the minute hand is attached by a magnetic holding structure, absorbing impact by giving way rather than resisting, then returning to position.
  • Shock-resistant construction with 200-metre water resistance (20 BAR) — rated for swimming, snorkelling and recreational water sports. Not rated for saturation diving.
  • Seconds hand sleep function — parks the seconds hand to conserve battery life.
  • Hand shift feature — the hands move clear of the sub-dial on demand for an unobstructed read.
  • Amber LED light with afterglow — a warmer light than the white LEDs used across most of the range.
  • Stopwatch and calendar — 1-second stopwatch with a 30-minute capacity in elapsed-time mode, plus a full auto-calendar to 2099 and Neobrite luminous treatment.
  • Bio-based resin case, bezel and band — 46.7 × 44.5 × 12.7mm at 47 grams, fitting band sizes from 145mm to 215mm.

Technical Specifications

The Casio G-SHOCK GAC-2500-7ADR is a two-hand analog watch on module 5757 from the GAC-2500 series, built with a resin and bio-based resin case around a resin dial in a two-eye layout. The case measures 46.7 × 44.5 × 12.7mm and weighs 47 grams, with mineral glass, Neobrite luminous treatment and a bio-based resin band fitting 145mm to 215mm, built to shock-resistant construction and rated to 200 metres of water resistance. The minute hand is a magnetically attached Shock Release Hand that absorbs impact, and the module adds a hand shift feature, a seconds hand sleep function, a 30-minute stopwatch and an amber LED light. Accuracy is ±15 seconds per month and battery life is approximately two years on a CR1025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this watch have a daily alarm?

No. The GAC-2500 has no daily alarm function. Casio has advised that some units may carry a product tag incorrectly listing one — the specification on this page is the correct one. If your tag shows an alarm, the tag is wrong, not the watch.

Why does the minute hand sometimes move after a knock?

That is the shock protection working as designed. Casio calls it the Shock Release Hand: the minute hand is held by a magnetic structure rather than fixed, so on impact it gives way and absorbs the force instead of taking it. Casio states that it may temporarily shift out of position and returns within a few minutes. This is normal behaviour for the GAC-2500 and not a fault.

What is the two-eye layout?

Two openings on the dial rather than a cluster of sub-dials: a small seconds sub-dial and a mode-function date wheel shown through a three-cell window coloured to match the dial. It keeps the face readable at a glance while still giving you running seconds and the date.

What does the seconds hand sleep function do?

It parks the seconds hand to conserve battery when a continuous seconds display is not needed. The watch keeps correct time throughout — only the hand stops moving, and it resumes when you need it.

Why does the minute hand move in steps?

The minute hand advances every 20 seconds rather than sweeping continuously. This is normal for module 5757 and conserves battery. Timekeeping accuracy is unaffected at ±15 seconds per month.

Can I swim or dive with it?

You can swim and snorkel with it. 200-metre (20 BAR) water resistance covers swimming, surfing and recreational water sports. It is not rated for saturation diving or use with helium-based gas mixtures. Avoid operating the buttons while the watch is submerged.

How long does the battery last, and can I get it replaced?

Approximately two years on a single CR1025 cell. When it runs down, bring the watch to any City Chain outlet — having it changed by a service centre keeps the case seal correctly reseated, which protects the 200-metre rating.

What other colours are there in this series?

Casio lists the GAC-2500 in four references sharing the same case, module and two-eye layout: the 1A in black, the 3A in dark green, the 7A in white and the 9A in yellow. Everything structural stays the same across the four.

What does bio-based resin mean?

It is a resin made partly from plant-derived material rather than entirely from petroleum. Casio uses it for the case, bezel and band on this model. It is used and cared for exactly as any other G-SHOCK resin band.

Can the resin band be shortened?

The bio-based resin band is a buckle-and-holes design fitting 145mm to 215mm with no tooling required. Unlike a metal bracelet there are no links to remove, so there is no in-store sizing step — set it to the hole that fits and you are done.

What warranty does this watch come with?

The GAC-2500-7ADR comes with Casio's official 1-year warranty when purchased from City Chain Singapore, an authorised Casio retailer.
