The EFK-200XPB-1A is the forged carbon edition of the EDIFICE Automatic — a mechanical timepiece that brings aerospace and motorsport material technology to a compact, elegant dress watch. The case and dial are crafted from forged carbon — the same lightweight, high-rigidity composite used in Formula 1 components and high-performance sports cars — treated with a marble-like finish where each pattern is genuinely unique. No two EFK-200XPB dials look the same. The hands and indexes are finished in rose gold hues with tapered forms, and the stainless steel bezel is finished in black ion plating. The result is a watch that reads as simultaneously technical and refined — forged carbon's raw material character elevated by rose-gold details and a slim 38 mm case.

The movement is automatic (self-winding) with manual winding capability — made in Japan, 21 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours and a hacking seconds hand. A see-through screw-lock case back reveals the movement's rotor, gears, and spring mechanism in motion. Sapphire crystal for superior scratch resistance and clarity. Urethane band with a push-button butterfly clasp for easy on/off. 100-metre water resistance. At 43.8 × 38.8 × 11.9 mm and 81 grams, the EFK-200XPB sits comfortably in the compact dress-sport category — smaller than most G-Shocks, closer in proportion to traditional men's watches.

Why You'll Love It

  • The forged carbon case and dial are the centrepiece. Forged carbon is manufactured by kneading carbon fibre into resin and pressing it in a die at high temperature under extreme pressure — the same process used for structural components in Formula 1 cars and aerospace applications. The result is a composite that's both extremely rigid and notably light. The manufacturing process creates marbled patterns in the material that are impossible to replicate — each EFK-200XPB has a genuinely one-of-a-kind dial and case. No two watches look the same.
  • The rose gold hands and indexes against the dark forged carbon dial create a contrast of warmth and industrial edge — rose gold's elegance against carbon's raw, technical character. The hands and indexes are tapered for a streamlined, refined silhouette. The black ion-plated stainless steel bezel frames the forged carbon with a unified dark surround that lets the marble pattern and pink gold details command attention.
  • The automatic movement is made in Japan — 21 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour (6 beats per second), producing the smooth sweep-motion seconds hand characteristic of mechanical watches. No battery — the watch is powered by the motion of your wrist. A power reserve of approximately 42 hours means it will keep running through a weekend off the wrist. Manual winding via the crown tops it up whenever you want.
  • The see-through screw-lock case back is the window into the mechanical heart. The rotor, balance wheel, gears, and spring mechanism are all visible — the watch is as much a kinetic object to observe as a timekeeping instrument. The screw-lock back also enhances the water resistance seal.
  • Sapphire crystal — the hardest transparent material used in watchmaking, rated 9 on the Mohs scale. It resists scratches from keys, metal surfaces, and daily contact that would mark mineral glass. The clarity is also superior — less distortion, sharper dial legibility.
  • At 38.8 mm wide and 11.9 mm thick, the EFK-200XPB is a compact watch by modern standards — sized for wrists that find 42+ mm watches too large, and slim enough to sit under a shirt cuff without catching. At 81 grams with the forged carbon case and urethane band, it's lighter than a stainless steel watch of the same size. The push-button butterfly clasp on the urethane band opens and closes with a single press — more refined than a standard buckle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is forged carbon?
Forged carbon is a composite material originally developed for aerospace and now used in Formula 1 cars, supercars, and high-performance equipment. Carbon fibre is kneaded into resin and pressed in a die at high temperature under extreme pressure. The process produces a material that is both extremely rigid and significantly lighter than stainless steel. The manufacturing process creates random marbled patterns in the material — each piece has a unique pattern that cannot be replicated. On the EFK-200XPB, both the case and the dial are forged carbon, so every watch has a one-of-a-kind appearance.
How does an automatic movement work?
An automatic (self-winding) movement uses a weighted rotor inside the case back that spins with the natural motion of your wrist. The rotor winds the mainspring, which stores energy and releases it through a gear train to move the hands. No battery is needed — the watch runs on mechanical energy. The EFK-200XPB also has manual winding: turn the crown to wind the mainspring directly when the watch has stopped or you want to top up the power reserve.
How long does the power reserve last?
Approximately 42 hours when fully wound. If you wear the watch daily, the motion of your wrist keeps it wound. If you take it off Friday evening, it will typically run through Sunday morning before stopping. To restart a stopped watch, wind the crown manually until resistance is felt, then set the time and date.
Is -20 to +40 seconds per day accurate?
This is normal accuracy for a mechanical watch in this class. Quartz watches are more accurate (±15 seconds per month), but mechanical watches offer something quartz cannot — a living, moving mechanism powered by physics rather than electronics. In practice, most well-maintained automatics settle within a narrower range. If precise timekeeping is critical, set the time weekly using the hacking function (pull the crown to stop the seconds hand for exact synchronisation).
What is the hacking function?
Hacking means the seconds hand stops when you pull the crown out to the time-setting position. This allows you to synchronise the watch to the exact second — set the minute hand, wait for your reference clock to reach the target second, then push the crown back in. Not all mechanical watches have this feature; the EFK-200XPB does.
What is the difference between sapphire crystal and mineral glass?
Sapphire crystal is rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale (only diamond is harder); mineral glass is rated approximately 5–6. Sapphire resists scratches from keys, metal surfaces, and daily contact that would mark mineral glass. It also provides superior optical clarity — less distortion and sharper dial legibility. Most G-Shocks use mineral glass; the EDIFICE Automatic uses sapphire as a mark of its higher positioning.
Is this watch suitable for swimming?
Yes — 100-metre (10 BAR) water resistance handles swimming and recreational water activities. Avoid operating the crown underwater. Not rated for scuba diving.
What warranty does this watch come with?
The EFK-200XPB-1A comes with Casio's official warranty when purchased from City Chain Singapore, an authorised Casio retailer.
