The Citizen AT2570-56M leads with its colour: a soft mint dial that sits between green and blue depending on the light, against a fully polished and brushed steel case. It is a genuinely unusual choice for a chronograph — the category runs almost entirely black, white and navy — and it is the reason this one gets noticed on a wrist.
It is a working instrument underneath the colour. A tachymeter scale runs around the flange for reading speed off elapsed time, three sub-dials handle the chronograph and a 24-hour display, and the date sits at 4:30 where it does not interrupt the symmetry. Applied polished baton markers with luminous fill keep it legible.
Unusually at this price, the dial is protected by sapphire crystal rather than mineral glass — the harder material, and the one that keeps a dial clear for the life of the watch. Inside, Eco-Drive Calibre H504 runs on any light with roughly five months of reserve. No battery, ever. 42mm across, 10.5mm thick — slim for a chronograph — and water resistant to 100 metres.

Why You'll Love It
- Mint is the reason to buy this one. Chronographs at this level are overwhelmingly black, white or navy — a soft aqua-green dial is uncommon enough to be recognisable and pale enough to stay wearable in an office.
- The colour shifts. Depending on the light it reads greener or bluer, which is what gives a flat dial surface something to look at through the day.
- Sapphire crystal at this price is the sleeper spec. Most solar chronographs in this bracket use mineral glass, which hazes with fine scratches within a couple of years — sapphire is rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale and stays clear.
- The tachymeter is a real function, not decoration: time a measured distance and read your average speed straight off the flange.
- A chronograph that never needs a battery. Running the stopwatch is what flattens a conventional quartz cell fastest, so most owners quietly stop using it — with Eco-Drive there is no reason to.
- The date at 4:30 rather than 3 o'clock keeps the three sub-dials evenly spaced. It is a small layout decision that stops a busy dial looking lopsided.
- At 10.5mm this is genuinely slim for a 42mm chronograph. Most sit at 12mm and up, so this slides under a shirt cuff where they catch on it.
- Steel case and steel bracelet throughout — no plated finish to wear through on the clasp or bracelet edges over the years.

Key Features
- Mint dial with applied luminous baton markers — a soft aqua-green surface with polished applied hour markers and luminous hands.
- Sapphire crystal — rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, resisting the everyday scratches that dull mineral glass over a few years.
- Tachymeter scale — printed around the flange for reading average speed from elapsed time.
- Citizen Eco-Drive Calibre H504 — powered by any light source, natural or artificial, with a power reserve of approximately five months from a full charge. No battery replacement, ever.
- Chronograph with three sub-dials — including a 24-hour display at 3 o'clock, plus registers at 9 and 6.
- Date window at 4:30 — positioned to keep the sub-dials evenly balanced.
- Fluted crown with twin chronograph pushers — for grip when operating the stopwatch.
- 42mm stainless steel case and multi-link bracelet — 10.5mm thick, with a fixed polished bezel and polished centre links.
- Insufficient charge warning and overcharge prevention — the watch signals when it needs light, and protects the cell once fully charged.
- 100-metre water resistance (10 BAR) — rated for swimming, showering and snorkelling. Not rated for scuba diving.
Technical Specifications
The Citizen AT2570-56M is a 42mm men's Eco-Drive chronograph powered by Calibre H504 — a light-powered quartz movement with a power reserve of approximately five months, an insufficient-charge warning and overcharge prevention. The stainless steel case measures 10.5mm thick with a fixed polished bezel, fluted crown, twin chronograph pushers and sapphire glass over a mint dial. The dial carries a tachymeter scale on the flange, applied polished baton markers with luminous fill, three sub-dials including a 24-hour display at 3 o'clock, and a date window at 4:30. Fitted to a multi-link stainless steel bracelet with polished centre links and water resistant to 100 metres.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the dial green or blue?
Both, in a sense — it is a soft mint that sits between the two. In warm indoor light it reads greener; in daylight it lifts toward a pale aqua blue. If you are expecting an olive or racing green, this is not that watch; equally it is not a navy. Think of it as a pale mint that shifts with the light.
What is a tachymeter for?
It converts elapsed time into average speed. Start the chronograph at a known marker, stop it at the next one a measured distance away, and the chronograph seconds hand points at your speed on the outer scale — units per hour over that distance. It is the original reason chronographs carry a scale around the flange.
Where is the date window?
At the 4:30 position, between the 4 and 5 markers, rather than the usual 3 o'clock. That placement keeps the three sub-dials evenly spaced and the dial balanced.
What do the sub-dials show?
There are three. The register at 3 o'clock is a 24-hour display, giving a second reading of the time on a 24-hour scale — useful for travel, shift work or military time. The registers at 9 and 6 o'clock handle the chronograph and running seconds.
Is the glass sapphire or mineral?
Sapphire. It is rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — second only to diamond — and resists the fine scratches that haze mineral glass after a few years of daily wear. Sapphire is uncommon on solar chronographs at this price, and it is one of the strongest reasons to choose this model over a cheaper alternative.
How does Eco-Drive work?
A solar cell beneath the dial converts light into electrical energy and stores it in a rechargeable cell. Any light works — sunlight, office lighting, a lamp. Normal daily wear keeps it running indefinitely, and there is no battery to replace at any point in the watch's life.
Does using the chronograph drain the charge?
It uses more energy than normal timekeeping, which on a conventional quartz chronograph is why the battery dies sooner if you use the stopwatch often. With Eco-Drive the watch simply recharges in daylight, so there is no reason to leave the function unused.
What happens if I don't wear it for a while?
A fully charged watch keeps running for approximately five months in complete darkness. If it does stop, leaving it in bright light for a few hours restarts it and you simply reset the time. Storing it face-up near a window rather than in a closed drawer avoids the issue.
What is the insufficient charge warning?
When the charge runs low, the seconds hand starts moving in two-second jumps instead of one. That is the watch telling you it needs light. Place it somewhere bright for a few hours and normal operation resumes.
Will 42mm fit my wrist?
42mm suits wrists from roughly 17cm upward, which is typical for chronographs — the sub-dials need the real estate to stay legible. At 10.5mm thick it is unusually slim for the category, so it sits flatter than the diameter suggests and fits under a cuff more easily than most.
Can I swim with this watch?
Yes. With 100-metre (10 BAR) water resistance it is suitable for swimming, showering and snorkelling. It is not rated for scuba diving. Do not operate the chronograph pushers while the watch is submerged, and rinse with fresh water after saltwater or pool exposure.
Is the bracelet adjustable?
Yes. The stainless steel bracelet can be resized by adding or removing links. City Chain offers complimentary bracelet sizing at any outlet — bring your warranty book along for the service.
