Seiko Astron HAB001J1 — GPS Solar Chronograph in Full Titanium
The Seiko Astron HAB001J1 is the full-titanium expression of the new 2026 generation of Astron GPS Solar design — case and bracelet both in titanium with a super-hard coating, framing a blue dial under sapphire crystal. At its centre is Seiko's Calibre 5X63 GPS solar movement, which receives satellite signals to set the time and time zone automatically and holds to ±15 seconds per month even without reception. The case measures 43.4mm across, just 12.4mm thick and 50.0mm lug-to-lug, and the watch runs approximately six months on a full charge of light — up to two years in power save mode.
Key Features
- GPS solar Calibre 5X63 — connects to GPS satellites to correct the time and switch time zones at the press of a button, powered entirely by light with no battery changes required.
- Full titanium with super-hard coating — case and bracelet in titanium make the watch noticeably lighter than steel, while the surface treatment resists daily scratches; the allergy-safe metal construction is kind to sensitive skin.
- 24-hour chronograph in 1/20-second increments — full stopwatch functionality measured to a twentieth of a second across an entire day.
- Perpetual calendar to February 2100 — the date corrects itself for short months and leap years for decades, with a day display alongside.
- World time across 38 cities with dual-time and time transfer — keep a second time zone on the sub-dial and swap it with the main dial in seconds when you land.
- Easy-adjust three-fold clasp with quick-change system — push-button micro-adjustment for hot days and long flights, and the bracelet swaps without tools.
- Built for real conditions — 10 bar water resistance, 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance, LumiBrite on the hands and indexes, and a screw caseback.
Why You'll Love It
The HAB001J1 is the most complete configuration of the new Astron chronograph: one material, head to tail, doing everything quietly well. Titanium keeps the 43.4mm case light enough to forget, the blue dial keeps the three-register layout legible, and the GPS solar movement means the watch sets itself and powers itself. For the man crossing time zones with one watch on the wrist, this is the one that asks nothing in return.
Astron HAB001J1 vs Astron HAB003J1
Both share the new 2026-generation case and Calibre 5X63. The HAB001J1 is the all-titanium version — bracelet included — with a clean monochrome black dial, while the Seiko Astron HAB003J1 pairs its black dial with gold-toned accents on a strap for a warmer, two-tone character. Choose the HAB001J1 for the integrated full-metal look; choose the HAB003J1 if you want the gold detailing.
The Seiko Story
Seiko was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, and in 1969 released the Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch. The Astron name returned in 2012 to mark another first — the world's first GPS solar watch — and the HAB002J1 carries that lineage forward in its purest form: titanium, light-powered, and set by the sky itself.
