This limited-edition design, one of only 1,000 pieces available worldwide, adds to a series of commemorative timepieces created to celebrate 100 years of the Seiko name on a watch.
For a century, Seiko have innovated in watchmaking, crafting timepieces that continue to offer brilliance today. Brilliance is the theme of this Astron, named after the founder of Seiko: Mr Kintaro Hattori.
The design of this piece was inspired by the view of earth at night from a space satellite.
Within a black super hard titanium-coated case, a dual sapphire glass crystal reveals a dark black dial with a vertical subdial layout – a first for Astron. This modern model has its own contemporary feel, with sleek lines, slim profile, and compact, angular design. It has an almost seamless flow from the case, through the lugs and to the titanium bracelet, whilst its black ceramic and multifaceted bezel features gold plating. This piece was designed to have a low centre of gravity, making it fit well on the wrist. The gold case back feature Kintaro Hattori’s name, the iconic ‘S’ symbol, and his lifelong motto. The limited-edition number will also be inscribed on the case back.
It features a new 5X83 solar-powered movement, that not only charges efficiently, but also features a one twentieth of a second chronograph function for measuring elapsed time. The subdial at 12 o’clock is for the chronograph feature, the subdial at 9 o’clock for setting modes, and the subdial at 6 o’clock for a dual-time feature.
This limited-edition piece will come in a special edition box, with a black silicone strap option and an ‘S’ symbol pin lapel badge.
